Catered for the age group: 4-5 years (Foundation)

This initial or introductory course to the Helen O’Grady System brings focus to developing essential life skills for your young ones which include:

  • Dramatic Play
  • Creative Movement

Catered for the age group: 6-9 years (Grade 1 to Grade 4)

This course focuses taking your children to the next level of development enabling them to be more curious, innovative and social in their day-to-day lives. This course includes:

  • Introductory Activities (response to scenarios, ad-lib to promote multiple sentence flows)
  • Speech (voice projection, articulation, forward placing, tone and pitch, focus on consonants, poems)
  • Music, Movement and Dance Drama (mime, gestures, actions, body language)
  • Whole Class Improvisation (drama story based on life situations)
  • Scene Starters (creativity, story and scenario development, morals, ethics, teamwork)
  • Snippets (scripted short stories, scene planning, teamwork)

Catered for the age group: 9-13 years (Grade 5 to Grade 8)

This course focuses to plant the seeds of essential development skills as your child begins to learn more and more of the world around him/her. With an aim to provide to your child ongoing confidence, self-esteem and skill in verbal communication, this course includes:

  • Introductory Activities (response to scenarios, ad-lib to promote multiple sentence flows)
  • Speech (voice projection, articulation, forward placing, tone and pitch, focus on consonants, poems)
  • Music, Movement and Dance Drama (mime, gestures, actions, body language)
  • Small Group Improvisation (creative drama stories in small groups, teamwork)
  • Whole Class Improvisation (drama stories based on life scenarios)
  • Mini-Scripts and Snippets (scripted short stories, scene planning, teamwork)
  • Structured Scene (presentation of situational scenario
  • Telephone Interviews (telephone skills)

Catered for the age group: 13-17 (Grade 9 to Grade 12) years

Your child is growing up so fast! He/She will soon have to face the world and create their own path. This course helps cement the life lessons and development skills learnt, with a higher emphasis on increasing self-confidence and effective social interaction. This course also provides the perfect jumping platform for your child, if he/she wishes to pursue a career in theater and media. This course includes:

  • Introductory Activities (ad-lib, thinking on your feet)
  • Speech (voice projection, articulation, focus on consonants, tone and pitch)
  • Small Group Improvisations (group work, scenario development and planning)
  • Radio Plays (radio commercials, radio programmes)
  • Career and Theater Games (thinking on your feet, response, actions)
  • Mini Scripts (scripted dialogues, scene planning)
  • Open-Ended Dialogues (development of dialogues leaving audience in suspense)
  • Vox Pops (media interviews)

As your child learns through our courses, there are several concepts that have been included to give your child a comprehensive and yet a fun and enjoyable way to learn! Here are some of the concepts:

AD LIB

Ad Lib is used to help your child be more confident in a group and not to be shy. Your child will be allowed to freely use his/her imagination and express it. Your child will also learn how to listen, observe and respond effectively in their own words and body language. This will help your child to mingle with the other children in a fun and interactive, whilst learning to express themselves with confidence.

SPEECH

Speech helps your child to pronounce words more fluently and without hesitation. With fun vocal exercises, sing-alongs and poems, your child is taught the importance of intonation and rhythm by stressing on certain consonants or vowels.

IMPROVISATION

Improvisation provides yet another platform for your child to experience and fun and interactive way of learning! By giving your child the opportunity to express themselves in a scripted life situation, skills such as social interaction, ability to deal conflicts and resolve issues are learnt. Your child will be encouraged to portray a variety of emotions so they can clearly the concept of empathy and reaction in a given situation.

SNIPPETS

Snippets help in dialogue development as your child will be given the opportunity to work in a small team and develop a short piece of drama relating to a specific idea. This is a fun way to encourage and build creativity in your child whilst learning the concept of teamwork.

MIME TO MUSIC AND MOVEMENT

Miming to music gives your child to explore the various ways in which their body can express emotions. Music is a captivating art that will keep your child entertained as he/she learns to learn effective coordination of their body movements for quick learning and development.
